The Xiaomi M365 Pro electric scooter is an upgraded version of its younger brother, the Xiaomi M365. Though it looks similar to the original version, it is a few pounds heavier and slightly larger in size.

It also has an expanded display area, so you get to see your modes and speed better. Built with an exceptional motor, you get a top speed of 16mph and a bigger battery that gives 70% more range.

In this Xiaomi M365 pro review, we will see how this electric scooter fares in terms of functionality, value for money—and if it is better than its predecessor.

Speed and Power output

In this Xiaomi scooter review, we will take a look at the speed and power output of the M365 Pro.

Its top speed of 16mph is not the fastest, but it is still swift enough to get you from point A to point B in no time. Likewise, its 300-watt brushless DC motor may not be as impressive as the motor of other electric scooters. However, for its speed, range, and price, it is quite reasonable.

Range and Battery Performance

The M365 Xiaomi Electric Scooter Pro can run as fast as 16mph with a max range of 28 miles on a single charge. This would not be possible without the large power supply of 12800mAh lithium battery, 474Wh capacity. However, the top speed and range may vary depending on the terrain being traversed and the weight of the rider.

Charging time can take as long as 8 to 9 hours when the battery is completely depleted, which is pretty long. The M365 Mi Electric Scooter Pro also has a dedicated app that gives detailed information about the health of the battery.

Another amazing feature of this electric scooter is that it stores and converts kinetic energy into power during acceleration. This means it actually charges while in use.

Design & Construction Quality

Of course, this Xiaomi scooter review would not be complete without checking the design and construction quality.

The Xiaomi 2019 model M365 Pro electric scooter and the original Xiaomi M365 look pretty much the same. Both have a predominantly matte finish with splashes of red on the front wheel and brake cable housing.

The primary difference between the two, when it comes to design, is that the pro version has a 50mm longer deck, giving you more legroom during long rides. Its handlebars are also 40mm taller than the original version, making it a better choice for taller people.

With a weight of 31.3lbs, this electric scooter is certainly not as light as most other electric scooters. In exchange for its heavier weight, it has a sturdy built. Its weight is also matched in its size, so do not be surprised by how bulky it is.

It has a roomy deck with a size of 45cm x 15cm and a handlebar that stands 990mm. The display on the handlebar shows you the battery percentage while charging, as well as your speed and speed mode while riding.

‏Materials:

The frame of the Xiaomi M365 Pro electric scooter is aluminum, a material known for its durability. Although it is made from a very strong material, it is actually quite light—making it extremely portable and sturdy. However, do take note that although it is lighter for its size, lugging it around for a very long time will prove challenging and taxing.

Handlebar:

Other notable features we will be covering in this M365 Pro Mi electric scooter review are the functionalities found on its handlebar.

On each side of the handlebar, you will find the same controls found in the original version—such as the bell, brake lever, and quality grips. On the right side of the handlebar, you will find the thumb lever that controls the throttle.

The main difference that I spotted right away is the LED information screen at the center of the handlebar. Whereas the display screen on the original Xiaomi M365 only showed four dots, the display on the Pro version reveals detailed information about your speed, mode, battery, lights, and Bluetooth connection.

Pretty much like its predecessor, a single central button controls the M365 Pro’s power on/off, switch lights on/off, and change modes.

Foldable:

The M365 Mi electric scooter pro is foldable. It is also very portable as its folded size fits perfectly inside a car’s trunk. Folding it is so easy that it will only take you about three seconds to complete the whole process. All you have to do is flip, fold, and clip to finish folding it.

However, the folding mechanism will need to be adjusted every 4 to 5 months because it has a tendency to loosen over time. The same problem occurs in the original Xiaomi M365 design. Additionally, while the stem folds, the handlebars do not.

With a weight of 31.3lbs, it is pretty light in comparison to some other electric scooters. However, you may still have a hard time carrying it around for long, folded or otherwise.

Seat:

The Xiaomi M365 Pro already provides a smooth riding experience, but a seat can make it even more comfortable. However, when you order the Xiaomi M365 Pro, it is shipped without a seat. Fortunately, it is available as an add-on accessory.

Assembly:

Out of the box, the M365 Mi electric scooter pro needs some assembly. Don’t let that bit of information scare you. It is super quick and easy to put everything together.

You only need to insert the handlebars into the steerer tube, secure them with the provided bolts and Allen key, and that is it. You are all set up. Now, all you have to do is charge it up.

Inside the box, you will find the user manual, bike pump adapter, and charger, as well as two spare tires.

As a side note, the tires are already inflated, but you may want to adjust them based on your preference.

Tires & Braking System

This Xiaomi scooter review would not be complete without looking into its tire and braking system.

For starters, the M365 Pro’s front and rear 8.5 pneumatic tires have anti-slip treads and great shock absorption. Its 300-watt brushless DC motor also gives it a stable power output. This means a safe and smooth riding experience for you over most kinds of terrain.

It also features a double braking system, with a front E-ABS regenerative anti-lock brake and a rear mechanical disc brake for a more responsive braking system. You can control both braking systems using a single brake lever found on the handlebar.

Normally, the cable-controlled braking system would raise eyebrows, but this scooter’s well-designed cable routing makes brake activation quite smooth. Likewise, the regenerative braking strength can be adjusted via the Bluetooth-connected app.

Safety

Aside from the M365 Pro’s responsive braking system, it also comes with a red taillight that is bright enough to warn pedestrians and other motorists on the road. Its headlight will illuminate a few meters of the road in front of you at night. This helps make night riding extra safe, but it could have been a little bit brighter with a longer reach.

Bluetooth

You can turn your mobile device into your dashboard by simply connecting your scooter to a dedicated app (1) via Bluetooth. Once paired with your mobile device, you can now see the remaining battery and your current speed. You can also easily update the scooter’s firmware.

Other features, such as cruise control, can also be activated via the app settings. However, because there’s no available phone mount on the handlebar, this feature may not be as useful while riding.

Brand & Customer Service

In an effort to bring high-quality and affordable technology to the general public, Lei Jun founded Xiaomi in 2010. Today, the company produces a wide range of products, from software to hardware. You name it. They have it.

Although Xiaomi is primarily headquartered in China, it has become a household name all over the world over the years. They have customer service operating in various countries, including Singapore, Spain, Italy, Russia, the US, the UK, and many more.

If customer service is unavailable in your country, you may contact them through their global email address. You can also chat with one of their contact support specialists from Monday to Sunday, 8 AM to 6 PM CST.

Xiaomi electric scooters come with a 1-year warranty for the main unit (2). Accessories, such as the brake lever, battery, and gear, come with a 6-month warranty. The best thing about this brand is that you also get a 3-month warranty for the miscellaneous extra parts like the charging port, headlight, and mudguard, which not many other companies offer.

Downsides

  • The handlebars are not foldable, which makes transporting it via public transport a bit of a challenge.
  • The folding mechanism needs adjustments every few months.
  • Its bulkier design means extra weight, making it less convenient to carry around.
  • The headlight is not that bright.
  • It can get quite tricky to keep your thumb on the throttle while riding over uneven ground.

Who Should Buy the Xiaomi M365 Pro Electric Scooter?

The M365 Pro is designed for adults and older teens. While it is not ideal for overly long commutes, it is an efficient way to get around the town, such as going to work or school. It is also perfect for quick trips to the grocery store. Taller people will also find the higher handlebar a big advantage.

Final Verdict

In this Mi electric scooter review, I talked about its impressive speed and range, as well as its many other features such as its larger battery capacity, better display screen, and responsive braking system. It also has a robust and durable design.

The brightness of the headlight is only enough to illuminate a few meters in front of you. It could have been brighter, but at least it is enough to make you visible at night in areas with low light conditions.

The cruise control is another feature I like, as it lets you rest your thumb from constantly pressing the throttle. You can also lock the motor of your scooter using your phone. When locked, it is impossible to push the electric scooter. This is a nifty thief deterrent feature. However, it won’t prevent someone from carrying and driving off with it.

Overall, it is a better option than its predecessor. Its larger battery capacity means you get a longer max range, and its more powerful motor is more suited for riding in hilly terrain. We also love the fact that it also uses kinetic energy to charge itself. Despite some of its flaws and downsides, I give it a score of 3.9.
