If you’re searching for a dependable commuting scooter with a few extra entertaining features, the Segway Ninebot Max may just be what you’re looking for. Its distinguishing feature is its remarkable range. Its speed, on the other hand, is suitable enough for city travel.

Segway is a pioneer in the electric mobility industry, and it continues to amaze us with every single release. Most of their e-scooters are in the affordable range, and if it’s a Segway–you already know it’s great!

Stay with me as we dive deep into this electric scooter’s features and more in this Segway Ninebot Max Electric Scooter Review.

Speed and Power Output

The Ninebot Max has a maximum speed of 18.6 miles per hour. Given that speed limits for e-scooters in various states vary anywhere from 10mph to 30mph, the maximum speed is tolerable. It might not be the fastest, but it’s definitely one of the safest. It’s also faster than most scooters averaging at 15 mph.

The Segway Ninebot Max is powered by a 350-watt motor with a peak output of 800 watts. This provides a lot greater power than other comparable scooters in the midrange commuter class that have 250-watt motors.

Range and Battery Performance

If there is one thing I can say about this scooter– it has range! The Segway Ninebot Max has a 40-mile range, according to the manufacturer. The Ninebot Max can run long distances, which is probably the most important factor for any commuter. This is great news for anyone wanting to cruise for long distances using an e-scooter.

The lithium batteries in the Ninebot Max have a capacity of 551Wh. It also has a Smart Battery Management System (1) that keeps track of battery health and protects against short circuits, overcurrent, and overheating. This ensures that the Segway Ninebot Max’s battery life is preserved, extending its service life.

It takes approximately 6 hours to charge the battery to full capacity, which is remarkable considering the long range. Plus, with the built-in battery charger, charging your scooter on the move is no longer a hassle. You won’t have to carry a separate charging adaptor. However, the downside is that you can no longer afford to break and replace the charger without getting it fixed by a professional.

Design & Construction Quality

The Ninebot Max is all about outstanding construction quality. The scooter is a genuine competitor in its class. Its seriously robust build gives it the impression of a serious commuting vehicle.

It has the impression of being carved from a single piece of metal, with clean, rounded lines, a coherent design, and a rock-solid feel, particularly when the zero-wobble safety collar folding mechanism allows you to feel comfortable that the scooter is firmly upright or folded. Everything has a high-quality feel. After more than a year in our care, the Ninebot Max that we have has held up well with little aesthetic damage.

Materials

Its actual frame is constructed of an aviation-grade aluminum alloy, so you know it’ll be light yet strong. You may ride as much as you want, and it will not disappoint!  The Ninebot Max spacious deck is made of carbon fiber. This spells a comfortable and more balanced ride even for riders whose feet need bigger deck room. Instead of being obligated to stand in a perpendicular position, you may stand with both feet from end to end.

Handlebar

The handlebar grips of the Ninebot Max are strong, robust, and textured to ensure that you have complete control over your scooter. The handlebar’s sleek, centrally integrated LED display shouts modernity. It’s not just a visual treat, but it’s also a snap to check your ride data on the go, from current speed to battery level to turn on your front and rear lights for increased visibility.

A minor downside is that the handlebar isn’t foldable, which reduces practicality and restricts storage choices. This small matter is not a game-changer, however.

Foldable

The Segway Ninebot Max has suddenly crept into my definition of a commuter scooter. However, due to its bulky frame and big wheels, it is less portable than other lightweight scooters.

When the folding stem of the Max is unfolded, it has no give at all. This is mainly owing to the rotating safety collar, which locks the folding lever. You can fold the scooter from just above the front tire, but the e-length scooter’s of 45.9 inches will still restrict you. In addition, the Ninebot Max measures 18.6 inches broad and 47.4 inches tall, 21 inches when folded.

Assembly

The Ninebot Max, like many other electric scooters, is simple to put together. The handlebars are removed when the scooter is delivered, and an Allen wrench is included to screw in the bolts.

Mobile App

You can download the Segway-Ninebot app on your smartphone (both iOS and Android) and register your scooter as well as link it to the app. The software may be used as a “dashboard” to keep track of your riding statistics.

Tires & Braking System

segway ninebot max design tires & braking

The Segway Ninebot Max is equipped with 10-inch tubeless pneumatic tires that effectively absorb road shocks.

The air-filled tires come pre-filled with tire slime, which Segway refers to as “self-healing.” Tire slime increases tire resistance to flats.

The front drum brake and rear electronic brake are controlled by a single brake lever on the Max. They work together to offer a backup braking system in the event that one of the brakes fails. Drum brakes are one of our favorites since they need no maintenance. The braking system is completely enclosed inside the wheel, shielding it from the elements and incidental harm.

Safety

The Segway Ninebot Max does not have a zero start setting when it comes to acceleration. This means you’ll have to kick the scooter to get it moving, up to a speed of 1.8 mph. This inhibits fast acceleration. After you’ve begun rolling, let off on the throttle lever since the engine would not engage otherwise. This is a good safety feature to have, particularly if you’re new to riding an electric scooter since you won’t get caught off guard.

Brand & Customer Service

Segway is the world’s most popular personal transportation device. Segway was founded in 1999 by famous inventor Dean Kamen with the goal of providing high-quality, safe, and dependable goods to its consumers.

The Segway Ninebox Max comes with a guarantee if bought from an authorized dealer. However, purchasing it straight from Segway is the best option.

Segway’s electric scooter warranty (2) is divided into three sections: the vehicle body, other components, and wearable components. A one-year warranty covers the vehicle’s body, including the deck, wheels, and handlebars, among other things.

The battery, charger, electronic throttle, brake, and other components are covered by a 6-month warranty. The components that are susceptible to wear, such as handlebar grips, headlights, and kickstands, are covered by a 3-month warranty.

Downsides

  • There is no suspension.
  • Less portability with the non-folding handlebars

Who Should Buy the Segway Ninebot Max Electric Scooter?

The Segway Ninebot Max is a mid-range scooter that is suitable for someone looking for a dependable and durable mode of transportation. It’s best suited for lengthy commutes or leisurely rides, thanks to its incredible range.

The Segway Ninebot Max’s lack of suspension keeps it firmly planted on the road. You wouldn’t want to drive this electric scooter off-road, however. This electric scooter is also suitable for beginners as long as they are fourteen years and up.

Final Verdict

The Segway Ninebot Max electric scooter reaches a whopping 3.67 out of 5.

This indicates that the electric scooter is one of the best in the e-scooter market today. The Segway Ninebot Kick scooter Max design isn’t as elegant as other electric scooters on the market, but it’s still one of the best electric scooters because it delivers a lot of performance at a reasonable price.
