Pros
Cons

The Hoverboard is one of the greatest inventions to surface back in 2013. Since it was an entirely new kind of ride and people were hyped to own one. It wasn’t exactly like the hoverboard in the movie Back to the Future, but it was a futuristic invention that caught the attention of people. Since then, a lot of companies have developed their own take on the revolutionary hoverboard self-balancing machine.

Razor is one of those companies that put their time into creating best hoverboards that kids and adults can enjoy. The Hovertrax 2.0 hoverboard self-balancing smart scooter is one of those products that completely changed the game. With its cool design and neat features, kids and adults alike can have fun and enjoy the Razor Hovertrax 2.0 hoverboard.

What makes the Razor Hovertrax 2.0 hoverboard worth buying?

All you need to know about this product will be explained in full detail in this Razor Hovertrax 2.0 review.

Speed and Power output

Let’s start by discussing the Razor Hovertrax 2.0 hoverboard‘s speed and power. It is equipped with a silent 135-watt motor that can reach a maximum of 350 watts at its peak. At peak level, riders can enjoy going at speeds up to 9 miles per hour.

Compared to an electric skateboard or scooter, the speed can be too slow. If you imagine standing on two wheels, going at that speed, things can still get exhilarating.

If it is your first time riding a hoverboard self-balancing smart scooter, you can choose between the training and normal riding modes. It is pretty easy to learn on the Hovertrax 2.0 because of its auto self-balancing, gyro-sensor technology. (1) This technology helps first-time hoverboard riders learn how to balance quickly. Just be sure to wear a helmet and safety pads when learning to ride.

Range and Battery Performance

In terms of range, the Hovertrax 2.0 will not disappoint. Riders can use it for 60 minutes of continuous use on a single charge, which converts to about 3.4 miles in distance. This distance is pretty decent for going to the nearest convenience store, coffee shop, moving around the house, or riding in your neighborhood. However, for actual commuting to work or school, the range will need more work.

We wouldn’t recommend this hoverboard for commuting as the battery would probably run out on your way to work or school. Because the weight of this hoverboard is not exactly light, it would be such a hassle to carry it around. Aside from that, the Hovertrax is still a cool ride for riding around the neighborhood or at your workplace (if it’s allowed).

The Hovertrax 2.0 is powered by a 36-volt Li-ion battery and comes with the Razor Hovertrax 2.0 Charger. Compared to Razor’s electric scooters and skateboards, this hoverboard can charge rather quickly.  You can also purchase an extra battery kit and quickly swap it out for extended fun.

Design & Construction Quality

The design is where this hoverboard shines the most. The Hovertrax 2.0 sports a futuristic contemporary design that will probably appeal more to kids than adults. Since Razor is known for making its products to be kid-friendly, you would expect it to have this design.

The build quality is pretty sturdy. It is equipped with a shatter-resistant polymer frame with a fender bumper for protection and multicolor LED lights that indicate its common functions.

‏Board:

The board itself looks pretty slick. It has a cool design with several different colorways to choose from. It is also equipped with an anti-slip rubber traction pad that makes the rider’s feet in place, giving the rider complete control of the ride.

Assembly:

The board comes completely assembled and pre-calibrated so that you can enjoy it right out of the box. It comes pre-charged with a little battery power, but make sure you let it get a full charge before using the board for a long time upon arrival. The initial charging time as recommended by Razor is 6 hours. After charging for 6 hours initially, you can charge the battery for 4 hours to get a full charge.

Additional Features:

One of the cool features equipped on the Razor Hovertrax 2.0 aside from the futuristic flashing lights is the Bluetooth speaker. The rider can connect their phones via Bluetooth to enjoy their favorite tunes on the go while spinning and riding.

With the Hovertrax 2.0 EverBalance Technology, beginner hoverboard riders can easily learn the ropes of riding a hoverboard. It automatically keeps the Hovertrax 2.0 leveled, contributing to a very smooth ride.

Tires & Braking System

The Razor Hovertrax 2.0 hoverboard is equipped with 6.5-inch air-filled tires that ride very smoothly on flat surfaces. However, when using the board on sidewalks with small cracks, the ride quality seems to decrease. Even with the EverBalance technology and the air-filled tires, the hoverboard still cannot ride smoothly on road imperfections.

Braking is pretty easy once you get the hang of riding this hoverboard. It is quite responsive in terms of accelerating and braking, and children would not have a problem using the brakes. The Hovertrax 2.0 can go fast, but braking is not that abrupt, so kids and adults can use the breaks confidently when stopping even after coming from high speeds.

Safety

The Razor Hovertrax 2.0 is a safe hoverboard in many aspects including its electrical components, braking, battery shield, safe riding, eco-friendliness.

First, let’s talk about how safe the technology is with the Hovertrax 2.0. It is built with safe materials that received a UL 2272 certification (2), making it safe for both kids and adults to use. In terms of the environment, the Hovertrax 2.0 has been tested for emissions. The hoverboard turned out to be eco-friendly and it contributes to the overall sustainability. Not only is the Hovertrax 2.0 safe to use, but it is also safe for the environment.
