Gotrax G Max Ultra has been gathering a lot of hype in 2021. The one thing you’re going to notice first is the maximum distance it can cover. Many people get on electric scooters as an alternative way of transport, and the Gotrax G Max Ultra seems to be the ultimate commuting electric scooter.
For me, Gotrax really did an amazing job with this new release, compared to the older models. Let’s find out how the G Max Ultra made its way to probably being one of the best electric scooters in 2021.

Speed and Power output
Compared to the Gotrax electric scooter forerunners and other scooters on the market, the G Max Ultra has a faster speed with a 350W motor that can reach 20 miles per hour. The speed can easily get you from point A to point B.
You can choose between two gears. In gear 1, the speed can get to 15.5 miles/hour and gear 2 can hit the top speed of 20 miles/hour– making it suitable for both beginners and pro riders alike.
Range and Battery Performance
Now here’s the best part of the G Max Ultra, the Gotrax published range says it can cover up to 45 miles, which makes it one of the best contenders for daily commute in the electric scooter platform.
It is powered by a 50 36V17.5aH LG battery which takes 6 hours to charge. The charging time is quite long if you compare it to competitors that usually just take 3-5 hours but, that’s probably reasonable because of the range it can cover. It would just depend on some factors such as the weight of the rider, the road you’re going to drive on, and the temperature.
Design & Construction Quality
When it comes to the design, the Gotrax G Max Ultra has a crisp look of black color with a touch of green on the handlebar. Made of aluminum steel, it is built to be stable and durable. It also has a reliable grip.
Gotrax has also added not one but two lock features on this scooter. It comes with a wire that requires a 3-digit pin code to be released from the slot. No need to bring a separate cable lock to secure your scooter. Just key in the designated code to release the wire and then lock your e-scooter in place.
Materials
The G Max Ultra is made of aluminum steel with a fine grip on the handlebar. The LED display monitor where you can check your battery consumption and monitor your speed is placed safely in the center of the handlebar.
This scooter can carry a rider with a maximum weight of 220 lbs, which isn’t all that impressive since other scooters on the market can carry a heavier rider. Still, it makes for a good e-scooter for average-weight riders.
Handlebar
The handlebar is made with a combination of durable aluminum steel and rubber for the grip. In the frontal center of the handle are the headlights and on the upper part is the bright LED screen display.

Foldable
G Max Ultra is foldable. This makes it portable to carry around if you ever need to ride a subway, take a quick break in a restaurant, or if you ever need to use the comfort room.
A quick release and fold on its mainframe lock and the G Max Ultra converts into a 6-inch tall carry-around scooter. It’s only 15 inches wide 42 inches long.
Assembly
The G Max Ultra will be delivered to your doorstep folded down and fully assembled. Even the LED screen is already attached to it with protective styrofoam to guard the screen. By unfolding it back up you can start to use your new G Max Ultra. Be sure to read the manual carefully before going for a ride, however.
Tires & Braking System
The G Max Ultra consists of pneumatic tires, which means they’re air-filled and have inner tubing. With these 10-inch shock-absorbing air-filled tires, rides are smoother and comfortable because the scooter can adjust according to the surface you are going to ride on. It has a dual braking system both mechanical and electrical that is controlled on the left handlebar. Its disc brakes are crazy big, for comparison, it is larger than the Gotrax XR Ultra.
Safety
The G Max Ultra’s bright LED headlights and taillights give the rider a clear view ahead on dark paths. The disc brakes and braking system are two of the commendable factors of this scooter. This is because, with massive disc brakes and electric braking, both riders and pedestrians are protected against accidents and mishaps on the road.

The great thing about Gotrax is that the company takes the feedback seriously and makes sure to deliver the requests of the customers onto their next product. Gotrax offers a 30-day return and 90-day warranty policy. The 30-day return policy gives the customer a choice to return a new and unused product but only if it’s purchased on the website (1). The warranty policy covers manufactured defect products (2).
Downsides
- It does not come with Bluetooth
- No cruise control and GPS tracking
- The maximum weight capacity is also low compared to other scooters that can carry up to 300 lbs.
Although the brand’s website promises a 45-mile range, a lot of reviews regarding its failed promise have surfaced on the web. The Gotrax G Max is not a sporty type of electric scooter but more of a commuting type.

Considering its specs and design, the Gotrax G Max Ultra suits people who commute daily from and to their workplace. The dual braking system is perfectly made for rides among other vehicles. It’s also manufactured with two kinds of lock, the pin code and the combination lock which makes you feel secure wherever you go. This scooter is also portable and can easily be carried around. The design and construction are not made for a sporty activity but can be enjoyed by the family on leisure rides to the park.
Final Verdict
Based on my personal experience and this Gotrax G Max Ultra Review, I will give this electric scooter a rating of 4 out of 5. For an electric scooter in this price range, it needs to sacrifice extra features to improve its ride performance, which is far better than any other aspect, if you ask most riders.
It is excellent for daily travel back and forth because of the added safety features, such as the dual braking system, large disc brakes, and the dual lock feature. With its 36 lb. weight, this scooter is handy to be brought on different public transport vehicles as well.
