For some people, commuting to get to work is a part of their daily routine. Driving can be fun and all, but if you are experiencing rush hour traffic on a daily basis, it can get frustrating. Don’t you just want to get home quickly and spend time with your family or do something more productive rather than sitting in traffic for hours? If only there is a way to do just that.

Actually, there is. Electric rides like the Backfire G2T electric skateboard are the best choice for easy commutes that are environment-friendly, too.

Riding an electric skateboard is not as hard as you think, especially if you have experience riding and balancing on a traditional skateboard. The only difference is, instead of pushing your foot on the ground to move forward, you can easily move just by using a remote control.

Riding an electric skateboard as an alternative mode of transport can cut your travel time in half, especially if you live in a downtown urban area, such as downtown Los Angeles or Manhattan. By cutting your travel time short, you’ll have more time to do other important things.

But that is not the best part of riding an electric skateboard.

The best thing about it is that it is FUN!

If you’re looking to buy an electric skateboard, the Backfire G2t might be the one for you. It is a newly released board that follows the successful production of its predecessor, the Backfire G2S.

To find out if this electric skateboard is the one for you, keep reading this Backfire G2T electric skateboard review.

Speed and Power output

First off, let’s talk about the impressive power that this electric skateboard has to offer. With the G2T’s dual 350-watt hub motor, this electric skateboard can reach an impressive max speed of 25 miles per hour when you unlock the Turbo mode. For an electric skateboard of its price range, this speed is quite fast.

If you’re a beginner, don’t worry because this board has three different riding modes that can limit the speed based on the abilities of the rider. In Eco mode, the maximum speed is cut down in half, making it safer for anybody to learn and is energy-efficient, too. In this mode, acceleration is smooth and gentle as well as the brakes. It is still fast enough to get you to where you need to be.

Standard mode will increase the maximum speed to 23.5 miles per hour. It is the mode that most riders can use for daily commutes when zipping through busy sidewalks and streets.

If you are still not satisfied with this speed, you can unlock the Turbo mode that can reach up to 25 miles per hour. Aside from the increased speed, it will also unlock faster acceleration. However, In Turbo mode, you will get a lesser distance per charge.

Turbo mode is not a permanent riding mode, as you will need to press the button on the remote to get an extra kick when riding. The manufacturers say it is because the unit can overheat if this mode was permanent.

Range and Battery Performance

The Backfire G2T range is quite impressive for an electric skateboard in this price range. Using 10S2p Samsung 30Q batteries, the G2T can reach a maximum distance of 15 miles on a single charge. However, the range can be cut in half when riding at top speed. The range will also depend on the weight of the rider. A rider weighing less than 170 lbs riding on flat terrain can reach further distances and faster speeds.

When the battery reaches a low point at about 25% life remaining, you will notice that it will slow down a bit. It happens to most electric rides. At this point, it is a good idea to charge the board anyway to extend battery health, so it shouldn’t bother you. Charging time is less than 3 hours, which is pretty fast if you consider the board’s range and power.

Design & Construction Quality

The Backfire G2T sports a sleek and elegant look. The deck is made from solid plies of maple, and the overall design looks as if the manufacturers have thoroughly thought about it. You can see the attention to detail from the battery case to the motor and the overall shape of the deck.

The durability of the deck and the quality of the build was incorporated with the power of the motor, so the build can withstand its power. Upon receiving the board, we noticed that the product was carefully packaged, adding double protection to the unit to avoid damage.

‏Deck:

The 37-inch deck sports an elegant design with an all-black grip tape that features a Backfire logo on the right-hand side. Underneath the deck, you will find the battery and motor carefully placed to leave room for a cool geometric design in the center.

The Superior flex curve deck is made out of solid maple. Carving and turning feels really good on this board. Because of the added flex, riders can confidently make wider turns without the possibility of their feet slipping. The low center of gravity design also makes the Backfire G2T a more stable board, especially when riding at max speed.

Wheels:

This electric skateboard comes with two sets of wheels; 96 mm and 83 mm. When it arrives, the 96 mm wheels will be equipped by default, which you can change quickly with the skateboard tool that comes with the package.

The Backfire G2T wheels are made with urethane (1), which is the most popular and universal wheel for a skateboard. This material can grip concrete and asphalt roads without losing traction, allowing the board to run smoothly and safely.

The 83 mm wheels accelerate faster and make the setup much lighter. However, the 96 mm wheels, although a bit sluggish, have better shock absorption, which adds up to a smooth ride.

Trucks:

The Backfire G2T electric longboard is equipped with Caliber II 50-degree trucks. This truck brand is being used for longboards worldwide, mainly downhill longboarding. These trucks have great response and rebound. The 50-degree angle makes these trucks do wider turns and bigger carves, giving the rider a surf-style ride. If you want to adjust the truck configuration, you can tighten the kingpin so you can ride fast without wobbling and losing control.

Remote Control:

The Backfire G2T remote features soft-touch rubber that gives it a premium feel. It does not feel thin and easily breakable and it has a nice grip to it. All the buttons are placed where you can easily reach them, and the reverse button is positioned at the bottom, so you do not accidentally trigger it. This remote features an OLED screen that displays useful information about the board such as speed and battery life. It does not have a Bluetooth app, which is okay because everything you need is included in the remote.

Braking System

The braking system feels smooth and safe to use, especially in eco mode. In standard mode, braking still feels safe, as the board slows down gradually to avoid any sudden stops. Sometimes in turbo mode, braking can feel quite jolty, but the best thing to do is to let go of the turbo trigger before you slow down to avoid abrupt braking.

Safety

For added safety, the board comes with a Cannon LED light, which is very bright. It allows the rider to safely ride in low light conditions.

Overall, the board is pretty safe to use, as the company did their part in ensuring that the battery and motor are safe to use. Skateboarding is considered an extreme sport, so don’t forget to wear the proper safety gear, especially when riding at full speed.

  • Price can be too expensive for a mid-range electric skateboard.

It is a board for anyone who needs a decent and reliable board that they can use for getting around town, campus, or for going to work or school. It is somewhat in the middle range, but it is still affordable.

Final Verdict

The Backfire G2T is a decent board that earned a score of 3.6 out of 5 from our stoke meter.

It is not a perfect board, but it does possess some qualities that make it a good electric skateboard, such as its sleek design, outstanding speed, and decent range. It is an all-around skateboard that is suitable for several purposes.

The score could have been higher if it weren’t for a few issues that we did not like that much. It still does excel in a lot of aspects that make an electric skateboard great. Overall, it is better and more reliable for commuting than other budget boards, making it a good contender for the best mid-range electric skateboard.
