Apollo electric scooters are known for their good quality workmanship and top efficiency. The company also has a reputation for providing exceptional customer service. The scooters are marginally more expensive than rival products but they are well worth the money. Apollo Explore is no exception. This electric scooter is made almost to perfection.

The Apollo Explore is a great ride that you can enjoy everywhere. From the name itself, this e-scooter will enable you to “Explore” in a wide range of terrains, from sidewalks to dirt paths. It is the perfect electric scooter for anyone looking for an efficient and reliable ride for various purposes.

It is an excellent electric scooter, but is it the right one for you? Let’s find out in this Apollo Explore electric scooter review.

Speed and Power output

The Apollo Explore has a remarkable speed for its price class. The manufacturers created it with speed and efficiency in mind. The 1000-watt motor has a peak power of 1400 watts–powering the scooter from 0 to 15 miles per hour in just 3.5 seconds and 25 mph in 9.6 seconds.

It allows the motor scooter to achieve a maximum speed of 31 mph and climb inclines of up to 20 degrees. Furthermore, since it can carry a maximum load of up to 265 pounds, it can comfortably accommodate heavier riders. The scooter also boasts of a rear hydraulic dual spring suspension and frontal extra spring suspension.

Range and Battery Performance

A 52V 18.2aH Li-ion battery fuelled by Dynavolt cells (a nationally recognized maker of electric motorcycle batteries) has a remarkable range of 34 miles on a single charge. This equates to around 1 hour of continuous top-speed driving, and the cruise control function can greatly increase the ride duration.

When the battery drains, it takes approximately 8 hours to recharge it, or half as long for a quick charger. Dynavolt cells are among the highest quality battery cells available, comparable to those from Samsung or LG. Simply put, the engine and battery function allows you to go wherever you want without recharging.

By a significant variance, no other electric scooter in this price range provides comparable battery performance.

Design & Construction Quality

Apollo City Design

The Apollo Explore isn’t very unique in terms of design, since it has a more typical scooter style. The material structure, however, can set it apart from the rest of the scooters. The stem, handlebar, and foundation are all made of cast aluminum.

‏Materials

The deck or the frame is made of forged aluminum, the battery uses a Dynavolt lithium-ion, the tires are made of rubber pneumatic, and there’s dual spring suspension.

Handlebar

It has a collapsible handlebar for portability. The Apollo Explore’s foldable stem and handlebars make it easy to transport on a train and store at home.

Foldable

The Apollo Explore folds down to 46 Inches x 7.7 Inches x 17 inches while not in use. For such a versatile electric scooter, this is a tiny size.  The folding mechanism is easy to use and locks into position with an audible press.

One of the biggest criticisms of this model is its weight, which can reach 52 pounds. Correct, if you just need to move it a few meters to the workplace or anything similar, this might not be a concern, but if you have to carry it for several minutes or more, it may become very tiring.

Assembly

The Apollo Explore will be delivered at your doorstep almost fully assembled. You only need to unfold the scooter and make sure everything is in place and the screw is tight.

Tires & Braking System

The wider tires have a more comfortable ride, and the pneumatic functionality eliminates the need for suspension. These tires also have inner tubes to protect against unexpected crashes.

The Apollo Explore tires are big and non-slip. In light rain, the tires have the fastest ride possible by reducing rain pressure and providing a comfortable ride. They are pneumatic and measure 10 inches wide.

Regenerative braking is also used in this model, which converts kinetic energy from braking into battery capacity, extending the overall range. This adds a few miles to the standard distance coverage.

Speed is nothing if you can’t come to a stop in a timely way, which is just what Apollo Explore does well. Aside from braking efficiency, these brakes are very smooth in their operation, allowing you to slow down gradually.

Safety

This model is rated IP54 waterproof grade, which means it can handle dust ingress and moderate-pressure water blasts, effectively protecting your battery from light rain and splashes. For your safety and that of the scooter, avoid riding during a downpour.

The throttle is thumb-operated rather than button-operated, and this is mainly for the rider’s protection as the trigger will injure the wrist. As a result, the thumb throttle is a secure and simple function.

Bluetooth

Sadly, there’s no Apollo smartphone application or proof of Bluetooth support. Let’s just hope that on their future electric scooter they will put this feature.

Brand & Customer Service

The Apollo team is extremely professional, and they truly care about establishing strong and sensitive customer support for their business.

In the first year of warranty (1), both manufacturing flaws are covered in detail. If a tool has to be replaced, there are no labor costs but you’ll have to cover the cost of the parts that need to be replaced. If the product is to be returned, Apollo would cover the shipping costs.

Other issues may be repaired by a nearby mechanic. In the second year warranty, manufacturer errors, or wear and tear, only labor costs are covered. The client is responsible for any fees, and any postage costs that might be incurred.

When it comes to establishing trust, Apollo is still on top in this department, with a two-year (24-month) guarantee on this awesome featured scooter. They also have a Live Chat feature on their website that allows you to get answers easily. In today’s electric scooter industry, only a few manufacturers have this level of service.

Downsides

  • It’s a little hard to carry around.
  • The LED is a little dim.

Who Should Buy the Apollo Explore Electric Scooter?

This electric scooter is perfect for commuters who go to work, school, or do errands daily. It is much more powerful than other electric scooters you can find in the market today. However, the features might be for your ideal commuter. Still, weekend riders and people looking to explore vast amounts of terrain would definitely enjoy the stability and comfort of riding the Apollo Explore.

Final Verdict

Receiving a 4.6/5 on our scoreboard, the Apollo Explore is clearly doing something right.

Overall, the Apollo Explore is an excellent electric scooter for those seeking a strong, sturdy, stable, and quick-to-learn e-scooter. For the most part, it checks all the boxes of the good stuff, except a few small issues. It could have been lighter or have better LED lamps, but there are no major drawbacks.

Apollo Scooters also has a fantastic customer service staff. Customer support is excellent, and spare parts and modifications for all scooters are available. It’s unheard of to have a two-year warranty.

The price tag might be a little high, but it represents excellent value for money considering what you receive. Other electric scooters are identical, but their warranties and customer service are not as good as what Apollo Scooters offers.
